Wood-Fired Envelopes
One of a kind slab-built wood-fired stoneware envelopes. I haven’t participated in a wood-firing this year and after holding these to photograph them, I’m making a proclamation to participate in more next year. Each one is unglazed on the back and contains a hole intended for hanging on a nail on a wall. There will be subtle variations in size, markings and finish. Choose from the labeled images.
A. Unglazed; wood ash from the firing process creates the finish. Approximately 8.5" wide x 3.5” tall x 1” deep.
B. Unglazed; wood ash from the firing process creates the finish. Approximately 5" wide x 4” tall x 1” deep.
C. Unglazed; wood ash from the firing process creates the finish. Approximately 5" wide x 3.25” tall x 1” deep.
D. Unglazed; wood ash from the firing process creates the finish. Approximately 5" wide x 4” tall x 1” deep.
E. Speckled glaze with unglazed squares. Approximately 5" wide x 5” tall x 1” deep.
F. Shiny metallic glaze with unglazed squares. Approximately 5.25” wide x 5” tall x 1” deep. *To note: This one was fired in a gas kiln (reduction atmosphere which is similar to a wood-fire environment); it was not wood-fired. I included it here as she sort of fits in best with the bunch.
G. Speckled glaze with unglazed squares. Approximately 5” wide x 4” tall x 1” deep.
